Inkheart
Cornelia Funke
The first book in Cornelia Funke's internationally celebrated trilogy - magical, thrilling and mesmerising. 'I don't think I've ever read anything that conveys so well the joys, terrors and pitfalls of reading' Diana Wynne Jones Meggie loves books. So does her father, Mo, a bookbinder, although he has never read aloud to her since her mother mysteriously disappeared. They live quietly until the night a stranger knocks at their door. He has come with a warning that forces Mo to reveal an extraordinary secret - a storytelling secret that will change their lives for ever. Also a major film starring Andy Serkis, Paul Bettany and Brendan Fraser!
Reviews

I loved this book. It was beautifully written with love. The story tells a tale of a girl called Meggie, whose father Mo is a bookbinder. One day, a man called Dustfinger appears at their door and the day after, they moved to Meggie's great aunt, Elinor. Meggie suddenly finds herself emmersed in a world made by mere words, full of evil and darkness, as her father gets taken away by a cruel man called Capricorn. Can Meggie gather her wits and courage to defeat Capricorn and to save the ones she loves? My favourite character is Aunt Elinor as I find her very amusing, and I loved to see how her character and personality developed through the book. She was once an isolated women, who considered her precious books her children. However, she then grew to love Meggie and her family.

I liked this book because it was all about two people that could read characters out of any book. but one day one of them read the wrong people out. The next book is called Inkspell.

My favourite character in this book was Quinn because although he was Dustfinger’s pet and couldn’t speak for himself, he was curious and always sticks by the side of his owner. I would 100% recommended this book to people that are interested in books about adventure and magic. This is definitely a book to read over the holidays.

It's about how interesting and crazy (and dangerous) life could get if characters came to life. And it gets worse: it's main character Meggie's dad Mo with the magic power to conjure people in and out of books. Would definitely recommend to older readers!

This is an amazing, adventure full fictional book that makes you want to keep on turning the page. My favourite character is Meggie who has an extraordinary talent of reading characters from the pages of books. But there are many evil characters wanting to use this power for evil. I loved this book and would recommend it to any reader.

This is a very exciting book. It's an adventure story and the main character is Meggie. She is also my favourite character because she is a girl with stacks of books everywhere in her house. The character Capricorn scared me because he tried to kill people who he didn't want or need when he could have just let them free. I would recommend this to kids who like scary and adventure stories and also have the patience to read a huge thick book.
